Hyundai promotes Albert Biermann as head of R & D, major changes are coming ...

Maybe you remember Albert Biermann of the test we did of the Hyundai i30 N a few months ago. One of those men who are kept in the back room, but who determine the success or failure of a brand. Well, the one that has been responsible for the Kia Stinger and the 'N' division of high performance ascends in the chain of command, to become the head of R & D of the Korean brand .

Actually Hyundai Motor has reassigned several high-level executives throughout the group , most notably the appointment of Albert Biermann, a former BMW M executive, as the next in charge of the technological future of the company. He will replace Yang Woong-chul and Kwon Moon-sik and become the first foreign R & D boss in Hyundai . What could augur a new address for the automaker.

A radical change in view of the decline in sales

In total, Hyundai Motor has reassigned 17 executives of all the hierarchy of the Hyundai-Kia group. This measure continues with the appointment of Euisun Chung as executive vice president, who is called to be the next president of the group. A position currently occupied by his father, Mong-Koo Chung.

Euisun Chung plans to restructure the Korean automaker in an attempt to deal with declining profits and sales slowdown in markets such as China and the United States. Hyundai Motor also wants to strengthen its position against its rivals in future technologies, such as autonomous driving and vehicle sharing.

Not only R & D, the design also goes to change ... and much

Last October, Hyundai named the former BMW executive, Thomas Schemera, as head of product planning for autonomous cars, connected and electrified vehicles. Luc Donckerwolke was also named head of design at Hyundai and Kia.
Which is expected to carry out the challenge of making Hyundai cars more attractive than those of Alfa Romeo.
