A Woman Tries to Refuel a Tesla with Gasoline
A video captures a confused driver stopping at a gas station and attempting to refuel a Tesla Model S with gasoline.
After leaving the car, she walks around it looking for a conventional fuel door. She eventually opens the charging-port door, pays at the pump and tries to insert the gasoline nozzle into the charging socket. When it does not fit, she examines the port, searches elsewhere on the vehicle and even opens the trunk.
The Tesla Model S is a battery-electric vehicle, so it has no gasoline tank or fuel-filler opening. Its charging port accepts compatible electrical charging connectors rather than a fuel nozzle.
A passerby eventually approaches and explains the mistake. Fortunately, the driver does not dispense gasoline while holding the nozzle near the charging port, avoiding a potentially dangerous spill.
