The Velolaser, the DGT’s Hard-to-Detect Speed Camera

Spain’s Directorate-General for Traffic (DGT) introduced Velolaser devices as highly portable mobile speed cameras. Their compact design allows officers to deploy them in locations where conventional radar equipment would be more conspicuous.

What is a Velolaser?

A Velolaser is a small laser speed-measuring device weighing roughly 3 kilograms and measuring less than 50 centimetres. It can be mounted on a tripod, guardrail, road sign, patrol car or police motorcycle.
